clutter update

by Elizabeth on August 26, 2012

Just a little check-in, mostly for my own benefit.

I figured I couldn’t challenge you and not do the challenge myself. Understand, I’ve been doing this for a while, too. There really isn’t much here to get rid of at this point.

Or so I thought, capriciously.

In just under fifteen minutes, I was able to weed out roughly half of the 50 things. Stuff I had no idea I even still had. Cords to old cameras. A couple books there was no way I’d reread. A stack of old gift cards that I’d intended to use for something I can’t remember. A couple t-shirts that I’d been using as painting shirts. (I don’t, however, need eight of them.)

I’ve been slowly paring down the extraneous Stuff in this house for several years. Sometimes quicker than others. Sometimes, just sticking to the one-in-one-out rule. But always conscious of the Stuff.

And I still found 25 things in fifteen minutes. A bit jarring, to say the least.

Maybe there is still work to do.

How’s yours coming along?

Thanks for the inspiration. I am sending this post to my husband as we are in the process of building a new home and I want for nothing more than less clutter and retention of all that is not necessary.
