Sunday Challenge #4: Singalong Sunday

by Elizabeth on January 22, 2012

Hopefully, you’re loving the changes you’ve been making thusfar.

Today starts the beginning of our first Review Week. If you recall, the way I’m trying to structure Finer Fruits has three weeks of semi-related content, and one week where we look back at all we’ve done together so far.  (It hasn’t quite worked that way, between weather and The Crud, but it will.  Starting, like, nowish.)

This week, I’ve got some great stuff to share with you from the forum folks, some additional resources you can call on to find out more about the stuff we learned, and a few inspirational bits here and there to keep you grooving right up through next week.  I also have a few things here and there from the two weeks of crazypants that I wasn’t able to get written in time that I’ll be sharing.  It’s gonna be a busy blog week ’round here, and I think you’ll really like Review Week.

Here’s the part you probably won’t like as much.

During review weeks from here on out, I’ve got an actual fitness challenge for you, rather than the mental workouts we’ve been going through on other weeks. I’m going to try to make these as universal as I can, and as accessible as I can while still keeping them challenging, so that as many of you as possible can participate.

Don’t worry. I’m not going to make you run a marathon.
(yet. let’s talk again in June. Eep.)

That’s right, folks…this week, you need to get out of the chair.

This week, you have one thing to do. Just one.

You have legs, I’m assuming.  You also have a life, I’m assuming, since reading this while not breathing might be a bit more of a challenge than just walking.

Put the two together this week.  It doesn’t matter if it’s one day or all seven, but hie thy asscakes out of the chair, turn off the internets, and find somewhere to put your body in motion.  You can go outside and give the dogs a walk to remember, hit the gym for a treadmill experience, or even, yes, head to a local mall and do laps.  (Just be careful not to stop every sixth store to browse.  Loses its effectiveness that way.)

No matter where you are in the country, no matter what the weather outside looks like (and for most of the midsection of the country, the response to that is “abysmal”, from what I understand), or how little time you think you have:  this is a week of no excuses.  Tell that little inner naysayer that he can go scratch, start singing lines by Nancy Sinatra, and just put one foot in front of the other.

(And how many of you are now singing the Abominable Snowman song from the Christmas special…?  Me, too.)

Hop over to the forums and head into the I DID IT thread, and let us know when you’ve done it.  Or leave a comment here — that’s fine, too.  Or just brag like hell on Facebook.  Whatever floats your boat.

Just strap on the walking boots and let ‘em fly this week.
