Very disappointed with this hotel was expecting far higher standard of cleanliness, apart from the food which was very good everything ekse5was extremely poor, damaged bathroom door in the bedroom, Dirty Windows and the public ladies toilet was disgusting.

Alwinton is an out of the way place, Very little in the way of amenities. You need transport to get around the area, bicycle if your are extra fit, car if you are not. Nestled in the Cheviot Hills, a wonderful place for bird watching and Dark Sky nights.

We ate at the hotel, food good and reasonably priced. The owners were really friendly and went beyond arrived very late and were very accommodating, room was good size beware of shower very hot not able to control temperature breakfast was spoilt by cheap sausages and Sunday service was very poor nothing been replenished or waitress kept forgeting to bring items in that had been request spoilt a good couple of days their.

The surrounding countryside was lovely. Hotel remote and not well equipped or presented, suitable for walkers and campers if the tent wasn't good enough. A big mistake and a waste of time. My wife refused to eat there. An escape from it all in a beautiful location and grounds.

Hotel is full of charm and owners and staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We also had the added bonus of live music from Jesse Terry and Alan Fish which all lead to a great atmosphere and evening. As well as the hotel itself there are facilities for camping and caravanning and the hotel do themed evenings and weekend event so worth checking out. Tempted to take the bikes next time.
