A light piece of fluff, but kind of a fun summer beach read, especially if you're from MN, because we all pretty much know what former MN senator the writers are referring to.

The writing is amatuerish, reads more like it was written by a couple of high school girls or was taken from their diaries. It would seem like the writers' time in Washington as Capitol Hill staffers was less than a great experience and they decided to get it off their chests through this novel.

If you like gossipy fluff, you might like this book, but in good conscience I could not recommend it to anyone. If you must read it, get the book at the library and don't waste your money buying it. At one point, or actually, several, Allison tries to strike up a relationship with one of her co-workers, but that isn't possible because the only real relationship she has is with her job. Since I once was in my early 20's and had a prestigious pressure cooker position such as Allison's, I can appreciate her focusing on her career.

However, every time I did all I could think about was what was going to happen next. When I saw this book had a political backdrop I immediately expected the book to be boring and dry. As it turns out, nothing was further from the truth.

While the book itself read like a novel I suspect there was at least some kernel of truth within it, which made it a real eye opener. I wasn't expecting a cliff hanger of an ending, but that's exactly what I got. I can't wait to see what happens next! I liked the book, as the characters were witty and you could relate to them. However, I think more depth could have been used in their development.

Too many details in parts, and the book drug on and on at times. I would say, if you want a light-hearted read and want to see Capitol Hill from an insiders perspective, read Capitol Hell. Capitol Hell was a great read! I saw the authors on a morning show, talking about their book. It sounded interesting, which it was, so I decided to give it a read.

While names and situations were changed, I'm sure, the stories that were told of how the ladies made their way to Capitol Hill, and everything that they encountered were riviting, and left me wanting more. I highly recommend reading Capitol Hill!!
